Building A "Corridor of Honor"

Welcome to the website for the Friends of the Veterans Memorial Parkway, Inc. (FVMP).  We are the entity charged with the creation of the 15-mile Veterans Memorial Parkway, located in central Lake County, Indiana, and touching into western Porter County.  The FVMP was created in 1995 to oversee the development of the Parkway, which was designated in 1994 by an act of the Indiana General Assembly.  Members of Cedar Lake American Legion Post 261, along with State Senator Sue Landske, spearheaded the naming of the route.  Beyond just a route highlighted in name only, the goal has a series of memorials established along the 15-mile route, honoring all Lake & Porter County veterans who served in times of war and peace throughout our nation's history.  The inspriation came from the establishment of the Lake County Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Stoney Run County Park in the early 1970's.  The vision is ambitious, and well on it's way!  Please take a moment to view our projects and progress, and consider donating to our cause.
